What awaits you
Adventure, hands-on learning, and unforgettable experiences.
Adventure on the slopes meets learning beyond the classroom. Students will enjoy professional ski or snowboard instruction, hands-on Project-Based Learning, and Systems Thinking experiences, all while making international friendships and discovering the magic of winter in the Japanese Alps.
The HIS Difference
Discover a different kind of learning in the heart of the Japanese Alps.
At Hakuba International School, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our Winter Programme combines mountain adventure, hands-on learning, and personal growth, helping students build confidence, independence, and friendships while discovering new perspectives in the heart of the Japanese Alps.
Adventure in the Japanese Alps
Discover the magic of winter in Hakuba, surrounded by the breathtaking Japanese Alps. With four mornings of professional ski or snowboard instruction, students will develop their skills, take on new challenges, and experience the thrill of the mountains, whether they’re stepping onto the slopes for the first time or looking to take their riding to the next level.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
At HIS, the slopes are just the beginning. Through hands-on Project-Based Learning and Systems Thinking experiences inspired by MIT’s Compassionate Systems Framework, students will explore new ideas, ask meaningful questions, and discover connections between themselves and the world around them. It’s an opportunity to think creatively, collaborate with others, and approach learning from a fresh perspective.
Growth That Goes Beyond the Slopes
The best experiences are the ones that help us discover what we’re capable of. By embracing new challenges, living and learning alongside students from around the world, and stepping outside their comfort zones, students will build confidence, independence, and resilience. Along the way, they’ll form meaningful friendships, gain new perspectives, and return home with memories and skills that last long after the snow melts.
