How Do We Promote Human Connection?

In this project, we explored what it means to connect with members of our community and how to build those connections. Students reflected on how they had formed relationships in the past and how they were doing so in their new school environment. By exploring Hakuba and Iwatake and drawing on their prior and shared experiences, they developed ideas for how to build relationships within their new community. Together, they decided that the best way to connect would be to host a festival and invite local residents. Working in groups, the students used their communication, collaboration, and money management skills to plan every aspect of the event—brainstorming ideas, creating budgets, and organizing logistics. Their hard work culminated in a successful community festival held during the final weekend of the term.
