Event Options

We offer several kinds of events to learn about our school.

  • Our Information Sessions are a brief introductions to our school’s philosophy, teaching methods, and admissions process, with time for questions from parents and students. Offered in English with live Japanese translation.

  • Our Pop-Up Schools are a hands-on, experiential taste of project-based learning with our faculty in Hakuba. They are for parents as well, so you can experience this learning format first-hand. They are intended specifically for students applying to HIS in the near future, and serve as an admissions assessment as well.

  • Our One-Day School is a mini version of our HIS Summer Program, offering a mix of arts, project-based learning, and outdoor education. It’s a fun and active day, and a great way for potential applicants to get to know the school.

  • Faculty Video Meeting: If you have attended an Information Session and would like to know more about admission to HIS, but cannot travel to Hakuba for an in-person event, we invite you to set up a casual video meeting with a faculty or staff member at HIS. We can answer your questions and share more about the projects and other learning adventures here. Please contact David Kenney, Admissions Director, to arrange a conversation.

Pop-Up Schools:

  • Tokyo Pop-Up School: March 23, 2024. Hosted by Tokyo Academics. For details and to register, please contact David Kenney, Admissions Director.

  • Note that for Pop-Up Schools, one parent is requested to be present throughout this time, for a set of parent-related activities to get to know our school and learning philosophy.

  • To attend Pop-Up Schools hosted in Hakuba, families must pay the admissions application fee of JPY 25,000. This covers the cost of the Pop-Up School and all other parts of the admissions process. We will send you an invoice for this fee after you complete the Pop-Up Registration.

One-Day School:

  • We have completed our Fall 2023 One-Day School. We will post future availabilities here as soon as confirmed.

  • The cost of the One Day School is JPY 16,800.

  • This date is timed so that participants interested in applying to HIS can also join the Pop-Up School the following day if they would like (this is not required).
